Museo dell'Ara Pacis - Exterior
Grand Stairs
The expansive front stairs are perhaps the most lavish aspect of Meier's design and a sculptural achievement of considerable note. Spreading out from the large upper plane of the museum's entry level, they descend in two stages and two directions, providing subtly moving perspectives. On all levels, they provide something of a grandstand for school classes and other visitors.
