This picture shows a woman in what might be the throes of sexual pleasure.
Exemplified here are the staging strategies of the industry in sexualizing female models. Sand is not at all a comfortable substance upon which to have sex, yet in this image, the woman is practically reveling in the sand and appears to be enjoying herself, regardless of its presence. This is a particularly voyeuristic photo, which appeals itself to a perceived male desire for a sexually depraved woman; one who is so lusty that she will submit to sex anywhere, with anyone.
This depravity, coupled with the open vulnerable position, gives the male viewer an incredible sense of power. In this picture, unlike any of the others, the model is not looking at the camera because she is so consumed with the rapture of the sand that she is incapable of looking towards the viewer. The photo allows the male viewer to imagine himself as the cause of the rapture, and also gives the sense that, due to her vulnerability, she could be dominated further. Not only is the model being unaware of anything else around her, her clothing, such as it is, does little to add protection. In addition to looking flimsy, the slits in the material do not do much to shield the model from sand or the gaze of the viewer. Her body is openly displayed and her breasts are clearly visible, further emphasizing the commodificaion of sex for commercial purposes.
