Tango for Musicians at Reed College

2024 Edition

For our 9th edition, we introduced a new space for amateur musicians and unveiled an innovative format for arrangers and composers, who premiered their works at the end of the week. We were thrilled to welcome 65 musicians from the United States, Canada, and Chile.

This edition marked the debut of the TFM Community Tango Orchestra and the launch of our program for amateurs, led by guest instructor Charles Gorczynski, which was truly inspiring.

We also inaugurated a new space for jam sessions, where each night concluded with music and even lively ping pong tournaments!

Throughout the week, our resident ensemble rehearsed and showcased fresh arrangements and compositions by Heyni Solera, Caroline Persall, Brian Salisbury, Nicco Ibarra, Teresa Tam, and Elyse Weakley. The week culminated in two concerts, the final one being a collaboration with the local organization Fear No Music, performed to a full house.

The entire week was a celebration of connection, growth, and learning for everyone involved. As we closed this 9th edition, we were proud to witness the continued growth and expansion of tango across the region.
