Refund Policies

If your student account has a credit balance, you may be entitled to a refund. Refunds are only issued on actual credits, not anticipated credits.

Students are strongly encouraged to enroll in direct deposit for excess financial aid refunds, student payroll, and other college reimbursements. The direct deposit form can be filled out electronically in IRIS, under student forms.

For direct deposits for non-student constituents, please email us at business-office@reed.edu—you will then securely submit the direct deposit form through File Robot. Never send banking details through email.

Financial Aid Refund

Student accounts with a credit balance resulting from the receipt of Federal Title IV funds (Federal Pell, SEOG, Perkins, Direct Loan, and Direct PLUS) are entitled to a refund. For more information, refer to our credit balance refund policy.

Overpayments and Adjustments of Miscellaneous Charges

Student account credit balances that do not pertain to Title IV financial aid credits can be refunded with written authorization. Review the non-federal aid related refund policy for guidance.

Leaves of Absence, Deferrals, and Withdrawals
