Peer Educators

Reed's peer educators are part of SHARE's Outreach & Advocacy team. They are trained Reed students who are leaders in relationship and sexual violence prevention and healthy relationships education on campus.

  • We coordinate awareness and engagement events on campus to promote a culture of consent and respect.
  • We provide violence prevention and healthy relationships education to students and the broader campus community through workshops, tabling events, and campaigns.
  • Ask us about the options and resources available to students on campus for sexual health, positive sexuality, and experiences of sexual and relationship violence.
  • Find us at tabling events, workshops, and in the Winch Common Rooms on Friday evenings from 9 p.m. to midnight, our "SHARE Lounge," a substance free, sensory aware space on Friday nights to chill, have a snack, and be in community.

Night Owls

Night Owls are a friendly, non-judgmental, sober, and supportive presence during weekend evenings and special social events on campus. Ask us for snacks, water, ear plugs, or safer sex supplies; friendly conversation and accompaniment; and help with concerns for over intoxication or sexual misconduct.

  • We provide early intervention in potentially hazardous situations when possible and engage emergency services when necessary, all with the goal of reducing harm and promoting safety on campus.
  • Night Owls wear high-visibility vests.
  • We travel the campus in teams of two on Friday and Saturday nights from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. We are also present at large campus events, like Spring Fall and Renn Fayre.
  • Night Owls are trained to assess and support students in distress, including evaluating people for signs of potential over intoxication, and to provide non-confrontational bystander intervention.
  • In emergency situations (or when asked to do so), we will contact community safety.
