Living Cully
Living Cully, an innovative collaboration that formed in 2010 between Habitat for Humanity Portland/Metro East, Hacienda Community Development Corporation, Native American Youth and Family Center, and Verde. Through its work in NE Portland’s Cully Neighborhood, Living Cully reinterprets sustainability as an anti-poverty strategy by concentrating environmental investments at the neighborhood scale and braiding those investments with traditional community development resources. Operation Nightwatch
Operation Nightwatch has three Hospitality Centers where they provide not only a safe place where those on the streets can find food, socks, clothing, blankets, and medical care, but also caring staff and volunteers who will listen to their stories and welcome them as friends. The homeless, low-income, and mentally ill are invited to see the Hospitality Center as their "living room," where they may interact with friends, share stories, and play table games. On-site nurses address elementary medical needs. There are also sponsored special activities, such as a footcare clinic, outings to local parks and cultural sites, and monthly birthday and comedy movie nights. Portland Tenants United
Portland Tenants United, a Portland Metro tenants' union, mobilizes tenants to organize through direct action for tenant rights and protections, and has volunteer opportunities that range from from phone-banking to art-making to event setup to street canvassing. Potluck in the Park
Potluck has been serving a free hot meal to anyone in need since 1991. Rain or shine, 52 weeks a year, we are feeding Portland homeless, every Sunday, at O’Bryant Square in downtown Portland. Four hundred to six hundred Portlanders do not go hungry on Sunday because of Potluck in the Park. The generosity of volunteers and donations from people like you that our Potluck community continues to provide for those in need.
