AKA Science
Impact NW's mission is to prevent homelessness by partnering with people as they navigate their journey to stability and opportunity. The trauma is devastating. Everyone in our community suffers. Impact NW supports people before it’s too late in two main ways: We stabilize by offering services such as rent, utility and other supports. And we strengthen by offering job training, parenting support, and opportunities for children.
AKA Science is a fun, hands-on afterschool science enrichment program that serves more than 1,400 under-resourced Indigenous, Black, Brown, Latino/a/x, Melanated, Immigrant, and Asian youth across Portland. The Program Support Specialist provides general program assistance to AKA Science, primarily engaging with supply organization & inventory, activity testing & filming, event support, kit-building, and other program-related activities.

Community Horse Sanctuary started in 2015 when we began transforming Ashfault Farm, our small race horse breeding operation, into a facility for taking in horses who need a comfortable, healthy home to live out their lives.
There is a strong need for such an option. In some cases, circumstances change and owners can no longer provide good care for their horses. In others, a horse is injured or unfit for work and would otherwise need to be euthanized or sent to Canada or Mexico for slaughter. Our goal is to work with our community to provide healthy pasture homes for these horses to live out their lives. We provide supplemental feed, veterinary and farrier care and the neighbors provide safe pasture.
