Thought Lab

Department of Psychology

Teaching

In our lab, learning is central to the process of doing science. Undergraduate students are close collaborators on all of the lab’s projects, some of which are inspired by their own insightful questions about how the mind works.

Students also learn about the scientific process—and in many cases, carry out their own research projects—in Professor Holmes' courses. Through teaching strategies grounded in the cognitive and learning sciences, these courses emphasize how seemingly intractable questions about human thought can be addressed through rigorous scientific study. The goal is to create deep learning experiences that will prepare students for lives of thoughtful, evidence-based inquiry.
