Subject: A season for reflection and renewal
December 13, 2022
Dear Staff, Faculty, and Students,
There is something magical about this time of year. It is a season of appreciation for all that has been done in months prior, of reunion with loved ones, of renewal and hope for all that is to come.
It is a time to take pride in all you have achieved over the course of the semester—and Reedies have been busy, in the classroom and beyond. Students have studied everything from atom combinations to complex global issues. You have advocated for important causes and cast your votes in elections. The arts performances at Reed have been truly wonderful. Mr. Burns, A Post-Electric Play written by Anne Washburn ’91 and directed by Catherine Ming T’ien Duffly, and the Fall Chorus and Collegium Musicum performance under the direction of Shohei Kobayashi were highlights, as was the Winter Dance Concert, produced by Carla Mann and Oluyinka Akinjiola. Cheryl and I feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to attend many inspiring events this semester.
Faculty and staff have continued their dedication to our students’ success and well-being, and I thank you all for your efforts to make our campus community a supportive, transformational place for students to live and learn. I am humbled by all you do for Reed.
As we near the end of our fall term and 2022, please know how thankful I am for your contributions to our community, and how proud I am of all you have achieved.
With gratitude,
Audrey
