Subject: Announcing the Retention, Persistence, and Graduation Group

September 19, 2024

Dear Reed Community,

In our continued efforts to ensure that the promise of a Reed education is made a reality for every enrolled student, I have formed a cross-functional group that will lead efforts focused on retention, persistence, and graduation at Reed. This group is the next phase of the Enrollment Management Group (EMG), which I called together in September of 2020. The EMG did a great deal of excellent work, gathering data that has led us to implement changes at Reed to improve retention and support students through graduation.

I am charging the Retention, Persistence, and Graduation Group to prioritize, track, support, and assess initiatives that will increase our four-year graduation rate.

Thank you to the members of this group for undertaking this critical work:

  • Kathy Oleson, Dean of the Faculty, Patricia and Clifford Lunneborg Professor of Psychology (co-chair)
  • Milyon Trulove, Vice President and Dean of Admission & Financial Aid (co-chair)
  • Kara Cerveny, Admission and Financial Aid Committee (AFAC) Chair, Ronald A. Laing Professor of Biology
  • Troy Cross, Committee on Academic Policy and Planning (CAPP) Representative, Professor of Philosophy & Humanities
  • Phyllis Esposito, Vice President and Dean of the Office for Institutional Diversity
  • Karnell McConnell-Black, Vice President for Student Life
  • Sheena McFarland, Executive Director of Public Affairs & Communications
  • Hieu Nguyen, Vice President for Advancement & College Relations
  • Kyle Ormsby, Committee on Academic Success Chair, Associate Professor of Mathematics
  • Suzy Renn, Associate Dean of the Faculty, Roger M. Perlmutter Professor of Biology
  • Jon Rork, Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning, Former Admission and Financial Aid Committee Chair, George Hay Professor of Economics

Sincerely,
Audrey
