Subject: A moment to reflect
May 18, 2023
Dear Reed Community,
As the school year comes to a close, I want to take a moment to reflect on the year and to express my gratitude for your contributions in making Reed such a special place.
I am still riding high from the emotions of Commencement on Monday. The class that graduated this year is particularly special to me because we came to Reed together in 2019. I am unendingly impressed by the resilience, strength, and dedication they have shown these past four years. And I am grateful to faculty and staff for their support and engagement with our students.
Over the last year, it has been delightful to meet even more people and to gather to discuss, celebrate, and learn together. I have loved welcoming prospective students and their families to campus to explore the opportunities Reed provides, and gathering with students, staff, and faculty at events such as the staff and faculty dinner in the fall, service projects during Martin Luther King, Jr. week, and celebrations of the lunar new year. These have been wonderful ways to engage with each other. I also enjoyed visiting alumni and friends of Reed during a Reed on the Road tour in March.
I am, as always, impressed by the intellectual exploration of our students, the excellence of our faculty teaching and research, and the dedication of our staff. Reedies are continuing to make a positive impact in the world, and I look forward to seeing what this year’s graduating class will contribute.
Thank you all for a wonderful school year. I wish you a joyful summer with time for discovery, rejuvenation, and connection.
All my best,
Audrey
