Widespread media coverage underscores the bold promise Reed is making to students and families—and highlights its leadership in the national conversation on college access.

Reed College recently announced the expansion of its transformative commitment to access and affordability. Beginning fall 2026, Reed will offer tuition-free education to newly admitted U.S. undergraduate students whose families earn less than $100,000.

The Oregonian highlighted the news, a story which was also picked up by University Business. “Our goal has always been to draw bright and curious students to our community, and this is a way to accomplish that,” Milyon Trulove, vice president and dean of admission & financial aid, told The Oregonian.

The Reed Promise initially launched in December with a focus on students from Oregon, Washington, and transfer students from across the United States. The initiative and its new expansion builds on Reed’s promise to meet 100 percent of every student’s demonstrated financial need.
