What’s your favorite local dish from your hometown?

I’m from Milwaukee, Wisconsin and there is this small hole-in-the-wall Mexican restaurant called Conejitos Place. They cater towards college students and have cheap meals served mostly on paper plates and cheap drinks. Despite the aesthetic, they have the best enchiladas that I have ever tasted in my life. I make a point to always go there more than once when I visit home and get the enchiladas.

What simple thing still blows your mind?

Simple random acts of kindness by strangers. In this day and age when there is so much turmoil and divisiveness, it really strikes me and gives me hope to see strangers going out of their way to help someone they don’t know. It renews my hope for humanity and reminds me to act with kindness and empathy.

Can you tell me about a hobby you like to practice in your free time?

I spend a lot of time with my dog Crash, so I have been learning a lot about dog behavior, training, and well-being. For the past 3 years, Crash and I have been learning everything from how to relax in busy places to advance trick training.

What’s your favorite thing about the place where you live?

I love living in Portland because of its proximity to so many different landforms. The coast, mountains, and density of the forests are my favorite things about Oregon, and a big reason I decided to move here.

Coco Jones

Do you have a favorite podcast you’ve been listening to recently?

Before the lockdown, I had an amazing opportunity to attend the EDC music festival in Las Vegas. This event introduced me to one of my favorite podcasts called Night Owl Radio. They play house, techno, and my favorite bass music every Friday night.

What’s something on your desk, a nearby wall, or out the window that cheers you up during the day?

My previous boss at my old job let me borrow his stuffed Kia Hamster named "Ragget" for luck. When I left that job and came to Reed, he gave it to me as a farewell gift.
