October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. As such, we want to acknowledge both the personal strength and agency of survivors as well as the social onus we all bear to be people who honor and protect personal agency in the context of relationships. Interpersonal violence can be obvious and overt or sneaky and manipulative. Either way, it seeks to control others for the fulfillment and gratification of oneself. Here is a helpful visual for recognizing various ways that interpersonal violence can show up.
If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, there is hope. Below are some resources both on and off campus that can help. Please also refer to the Reed DV Safety Plan PDF.
