Nicholas Emerson is a Portland-based composer, producer, educator, and guitarist. Nicholas is active in the Portland music scene, particularly with mentoring youth arts organizations, including The Northwest Children’s Theater & School, The Metropolitan Youth Symphony, and Fear No Music’s Young Composers Project. As a producer, Nicholas has worked for the Portland Youth Philharmonic, Montavilla Jazz Festival, Vanport Mosaic, and Northwest Artsong. Nicholas studied composition and music production at Portland State University and graduated with a BS in Sonic Arts & Music Production (SAMP). He loves to combine these skills to compose and produce in many different styles from orchestral music to HipHop, as well as film scoring and sound-design. As a teacher, Nicholas is passionate about teaching music with a compositional approach, to enable students to learn how to compose their own music as they learn how to play their instrument.
