Brazil native Marilyn de Oliveira is the Assistant Principal Cellist of the Oregon Symphony, founding member of Mousai Remix and cellist in the Pyxis String Quartet. In addition to Mrs. de Oliveira’s active performing career, she maintains a private studio of aspiring cellists who are often finalists in local competitions and continue their studies in top music schools around the world.

Prior to joining the OSO, Marilyn served as Acting Assistant Principal cello and section member of the San Antonio Symphony and was a fellow at the New World Symphony in Miami, FL.  Marilyn received her Bachelor of Music degree from Indiana University under cellist Emilio Colon and her Master of Music degree at Rice University with Norman Fischer. She was the Bronze Award Winner in the senior division of the 9th Annual Sphinx Competition in 2006.

Her involvement in the Portland community led her to found the Oregon Symphony Musician’s Caroling Project, bringing the joy of music to those in need during the holidays. Marilyn is the lucky wife of Oregon Symphony cellist Trevor Fitzpatrick, and a proud mom.
