Music Department

Joe Klause is a Portland-based musician and educator. He has received degrees from the Juilliard School, the New England Conservatory of Music, and the Longy School of Music, with additional studies at le Conservatoire du Rueil-Malmaison in France. He is an endorsed Thane Trumpet Artist.

In addition to teaching at Reed College, Joe maintains a robust private studio, and is on faculty at Clackamas Community College. He also regularly coaches trumpet sectionals and brass ensembles at local high schools and middle schools. He is a member of the Rose City Brass Quintet, Rose City Brass Trio, Portland Columbia Symphony, is an acting member of the Eugene Symphony, and performs regularly with other PNW orchestras, music festivals, and chamber ensembles.

Aside from trumpet, Joe is the Lead Software Engineer for the Digital Marketing department at Sprinklr where he manages the development team that builds Sprinklr’s marketing website. He is a devoted cat dad, and is passionate about swimming, yoga, bouldering, meditation, hiking, and food.
