Using a Lightboard
A lightboard is a teaching tool that allows you to write on a (glass) board while looking directly at your viewers, in contrast to a traditional blackboard.
You can use the lightboard to create more engaging videos with a more natural way of presenting material. When you face the camera, your students can pick up on facial cues and expressions more easily. (Student feedback has been overwhelmingly positive in Reed classes where faculty have used a lightboard.)
For more information see the EDUCAUSE "7 things you should know..." report on lightboards, as well as our tips on lightboard recording.
