Banner Job Submission working

Banner Job Submission and Financial Aid Need Analysis are again working, with workarounds for the users who access these services. Banhost remains unavailable while IT staff work with the vendor to address underlying issues. We'll update here and via email to the affected users when banhost is again available. If you need assistance in the meantime, please email admin-computing@reed.edu.

Banner Job Submission unavailable

Unfortunately, we are again experiencing problems with the underlying infrastructure that supports Banner Job Submission, Financial Aid Need Analysis and the servers banhost and banadmin. Our infrastructure team is working on this now. We'll keep updates coming here and via email to Banner users.

Banadmin, Banner Job Submission, and Financial Aid Need Analysis are again available.

Our infrastructure team continues to troubleshoot problems with the server banhost, which remains unavailable.

We'll update as soon as we know more.

banhost/banadmin & Job Submission down

Job Submission, Financial Aid Need Analysis, the servers banhost and banadmin are all currently unavailable while our IT team restarts these servers to address a problem that occurred over the weekend. We expect these servers & services to be available again around 11:30 am.

The following services ARE available at this time:

  • IRIS and SOLAR
  • ATLAS (Degree progress evaluation)
  • Banner Admin pages
  • Banner Self-Service web sites (Employee Self-Service which provides access to employee time sheets, Student Self Service, Advancement Self-Service)
  • Document Management and Forms (Etrieve)
  • Oracle databases (including Reed websites accessing Banner/Oracle data)
  • Argos reports accessing Banner data

We will update here when the work is complete.

Moodle update and downtime - Thursday, June 13

Beginning at 6 a.m. on Thursday, June 13, IT staff will update Moodle to version 4.3 in preparation for the 2024-2025 academic year.

While the update is in progress, Moodle will be unavailable.

We expect Moodle access to be restored by 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 13; it is possible that the update will be completed much earlier.

6/10/24 Networking issues affecting services

We are getting reports of network instability. Information Technology staff are working to resolving the issue.

The following services maybe affected:

  • Access to services from Microsoft Remote Desktop (aka, MRD; aka, trunk)

    • Transact applications

    • EMS

    • All web page access, including to the staff apps page

    • Argos client

    • Intellecheck

    • Form Fusion

  • Banhost access

  • Some people are experiencing problems connecting to file shares

Authorization errors to various applications

Multiple users are experiencing "Unauthorized Access" errors when attempting to log into systems that require "kerberos" authentication (e.g. File Robot, IRIS, etc).

Our wonderful Infrastructure and networking team is all hands on deck working on it as I type. Return here for updates.

fileshares is again available

The server fileshares is again available via SMB connections. The infrastructure team was able to work around a new bug that was introduced with last night's upgrade. Banhost and Banner Job Submission unavailable

Currently, the banhost server and Banner Job Submission are not working. Our infrastructure team is working on the underlying issues. We do not currently have an ETA for bringing these systems back up. If this is affecting your ability to do time-critical work, please email admin-computing@reed.edu with details about what you need to run, etc. We'll post more information here when we have it.

banhost access not working for all users

The server banhost is currently not accepting new connections from users. IT staff are aware of and working to resolve the problem. We will post here when we have more information. Due to an unexpected problem with an infrastructure system, we must restart equipment which will result in some services being unavailable for up to 2 hours this afternoon, starting at approximately 3:00 pm.

Services that will be unavailable during this maintenance period include:

  • sftp.reed.edu
