Personal Network Devices at Reed
We can assist you in registering most of your personally owned network devices for access on the Reed network.
Personal Devices
Personal devices like your smartphone, tablet, laptop, or desktop computer need to be registered to connect to both the wired and wireless networks. CUS can provide further assistance as needed.
You can find instructions on how to connect to Reed1x on the following help pages:
If you are wanting to connect your device to the wired network, you will need to register the device first. You can find instructions and register your device here.
Smart Devices and Gaming Consoles
So-called smart devices such as Google Home, Amazon Alexa, smart lighting systems, Sonos stereo equipment, and gaming consoles such as Xboxes or Playstations, will lose some functionality while on the Reed network. CUS can provide guidance on registering the device to the network but cannot guarantee that the device will retain all functionality or features or help with troubleshooting these devices after the initial connection.
If you would like to connect your device to the network through ethernet, you can register the device yourself here.
To connect your device to the wireless network, you will need to contact CUS with its MAC Address.
Other Devices
Devices such as wireless printers, wireless access points, routers, and switches are not permitted on our network. Please do not bring these devices to campus.
