Fulbright University Vietnam

Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

Fulbright University Vietnam allows Reed students to experience an English-language liberal arts education while living in a country vastly different to the United States, and in the bustle of Ho Chi Minh City. The university was "founded on the promise of Vietnamese-American partnership, we practice and teach continuous innovation in pursuit of bold, ethical answers to local and global challenges. Our design for academic programs of exceptional quality embraces scientific, social, and humanistic modes of inquiry and action, optimized for a dynamic and impatient future," according to its website.

The university has five core values, being independent, adaptive, global, student-centered, and future-focused. The university has a variety of majors, but also teaches interdisciplinary classes and has departments not offered at Reed, like Vietnam Studies and Human-Centered Engineering. At Fulbright University Vietnam, students will live on-campus in a school community, with many activities and clubs to take part in such as debate, theatre, and badminton clubs.

For direct exchange programs such as this one, students must be nominated by the IPO Director in order to apply. If interested, please make an appointment with the IPO Director to discuss. Upon nomination from the IPO, you must submit the application for consideration.

Reed College charges the same tuition fees for a semester or year off-campus as for a semester or year spent on campus, plus the program's actual room and board fees. Reed College encourages students to choose programs based on their academic rather than financial needs to reflect Reed's belief that all students, regardless of financial circumstances, should have the opportunity to study abroad.

Financial aid continues for eligible students during the off-campus program. Students should discuss with the Financial Aid Office how other outside aid may impact their existing aid package. Check out more details directly on the Reed College Financial Aid page.
