International Programs Office

American University in Beirut

Beirut, Lebanon

This program offers students the opportunity to study in Lebanon at the American University of Beirut. Courses are taught in English, allowing students without prior experience in Arabic a porthole into Lebanese life and culture. Students will undergo an orientation program upon arrival at AUB. This program is notable for its low faculty-student ratio (1:13) and its subsequent small class sizes and intimate atmosphere.

There are approximately 1500 international students studying at AUB every year, and the Office of International Programs (OIP) is accordingly developed and supportive. Special events, trips and other social activities are arranged to guide student immersion, and a Student Ambassador program is offered to help students through the first week of classes. Counseling and academic support are also offered with the help of a walk-in advising center.

Cost to attend:

Reed College charges the same tuition fees for a semester or year off-campus as for a semester or year spent on campus, plus the program's actual room and board fees. Reed College encourages students to choose programs based on their academic rather than financial needs to reflect Reed's belief that all students, regardless of financial circumstances, should have the opportunity to study abroad.

Financial aid continues for eligible students during the off-campus program. Students should discuss with the Financial Aid Office how other outside aid may impact their existing aid package. Check out more details directly on the Reed College Financial Aid page.
