This program allows students to study at Universtié de Lille in either an intensive French-only program, or with a more guided curriculum blending courses in both French and English. This program is a great opportunity for both experienced French speakers and relative newcomers to experience the French university system and life in Lille. Through this program, students may choose to spend either a year or semester in France at Lille. Upon arrival in France, students undergo an expansive 10-day orientation program to assist in immersion and general cultural acclimation. Several excursions within and outside of the city are provided by the university.

Language Prerequisite: Two primary exchange plans are offered at Lille III, one for experienced French speakers, and another for students seeking linguistic guidance. The former consists of full immersion into the French academic system, taking courses exclusively in French at the university. To qualify for this option students must have completed 4-5 semesters of university-level French or its equivalent prior to inscription. The latter provides students with intensive courses in French in addition to a general curriculum of English-taught courses.

Students choosing this program will live in single-occupancy rooms in university housing, and will be provided a small stipend for meals.

Cost to attend:
Reed College charges the same tuition fees for a semester or year off-campus as for a semester or year spent on campus, plus the program's actual room and board fees. Reed College encourages students to choose programs based on their academic rather than financial needs to reflect Reed's belief that all students, regardless of financial circumstances, should have the opportunity to study abroad.

Visa Deadlines and Requirements:
A visa is required to study abroad in France, and must be obtained in the students home country before going to France. The France Visa Wizard is a helpful tool in finding out more about the visa process for each specific student.
