School for Field Studies - Cambodia

Multiple Locations, Cambodia

Conservation efforts are deeply connected to Cambodian community livelihoods across Tonle Sap Lake and Angkor Wat. Participants in this program will learn about threats to ecosystems and natural resources, environmental governance, and the ethics of conservation and development in this fascinating country.

While traveling extensively, students will visit elephant-inhabited forests in Mondulkiri, mountain ecosystems in Kampot, the Vietnamese Mekong Delta, and key sites along the Mekong River. During the final weeks of the semester, students will conduct an extensive research project in the field.

Cost to attend:

Reed College charges the same tuition fees for a semester or year off-campus as for a semester or year spent on campus, plus the program's actual room and board fees. Reed College encourages students to choose programs based on their academic rather than financial needs to reflect Reed's belief that all students, regardless of financial circumstances, should have the opportunity to study abroad.

Financial aid continues for eligible students during the off-campus program. Students should discuss with the Financial Aid Office how other outside aid may impact their existing aid package. Check out more details directly on the Reed College Financial Aid page.

Visa Deadlines and Requirements:

You will receive specific instructions about the necessary visa process from the SFS Admissions Department well in advance of your program. DO NOT apply for a visa prior to receiving these instructions.

Students’ Cambodian Ordinary type E-visas will be applied for and granted 1 month
before the program start date. E-visa instructions will be given upon acceptance and
supporting documents will be sent 1 month before the program start date.
Cambodian Ordinary type E-visas cost $42 USD and last 30 days. Visa costs are the
responsibility of the student, and prices are subject to change. Staff will assist
semester students to extend their visas for an additional cost on program.

Non-U.S. citizens may require a different visa process and are responsible for
applying for, obtaining, and paying for their own visa(s) valid for the duration of their
program. If traveling before or after the program, make sure that the visa(s) will
remain valid for the entire stay.
