Educational Technology Center (ETC)

Information resource centers (IRCs) - Main Floor, ETC: Open 24/7
The IRCs are student computer labs on the main floor of the educational technology center (ETC). They contain Apple computers that run both Macintosh and Windows software, printers, scanners, and other equipment. A variety of software for course assignments and independent work is available as well. Departmental and specialized computer labs can be found throughout the campus.

Computer User Services is located in the first floor of the ETC building on the east side of the library next to the East Parking Lot. Just go to the center of the building to the large help desk. You can't miss us!

CUS professional staff are available during regular College hours, Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m.–5 p.m., with lunch from noon–1 p.m.

When classes are in session, student T-watchers are also on duty Monday-Thursday 8:30 a.m.–midnight, Friday 8:30 a.m.–5 p.m., and Sunday 5 p.m.–midnight. During Hum papers weekends and Finals week, T-watchers will be on duty as much as possible, but we can't guarantee any regular hours outside of professional staff hours.

The Computer Shop, an Apple Authorized Service Provider, is available to current students, faculty, and staff for Macintosh repair, upgrades, and maintenance. For privately owned equipment, the Shop charges $35 per hour plus the cost of parts. It can provide Apple warranty service at no charge, no matter where you bought your Mac. The Computer Shop is open Monday through Friday 10 a.m.–noon; 1–5 p.m.

The Reed Computer Store carries a wide selection of Macintosh computers and accessories that can be purchased by Reed students, faculty, and staff. The Computer Store Manager can also provide purchasing advice. The Computer Store is open Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m.–noon; 1–5 p.m.

Multimedia Lab (mLab): ETC 226. Email: mlab@reed.edu
The mLab is open to faculty members 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by cardswipe access, and to staff members and students by arrangement. The mLab is maintained by Instructional Technology Services (ITS) and contains computers with specialized software; large-format scanners and printers; and cameras, tablets, and other equipment for short-term checkout. ITS provides support for the use of technology in teaching, learning, and research, including Reed’s learning management system, Moodle.
