Jan Mieszkowski teaches German and Comparative Literature at Reed College. He is the author of three books: Labors of Imagination: Aesthetics and Political Economy from Kant to Althusser (Fordham 2006), Watching War (Stanford 2012), and Crises of the Sentence (Chicago 2019). His recent articles explore a range of topics in literary and critical theory, including first words in Samuel Beckett, Frank B. Wilderson III as a reader of Paul de Man, and the Romantic philosophy of money. Jan is currently completing a monograph about the poetics of botany.
