Pest Reduction Measures

Community Responsibilities

All community members have a responsibility to help reduce pests on campus. This includes avoiding creating pest-conducive conditions, cleaning up after ourselves, and reporting pests/pest-conducive conditions.

Avoid Pest-Conducive Conditions

In order to reduce pest presence, community members must:

  • Avoid clutter.
  • Not leave out food and food debris. Remember: placing something sticky, like a piece of fruit, will leave residue so just throwing the fruit away is not sufficient. Wipe down any areas that have food residue on them.
  • Clean up after yourself when food or drink is consumed.
  • Take out trash containing food.
  • Report pests and pest-conducive conditions to Facilities Services.

How to report a pest issue

To report a pest issue, submit a Facilities Request through our online form. Include any information you have about the issue including what the pest is and what is the condition causing the pest. If the issue is an emergency, meaning it is unsafe or causing ongoing damage to the facility, call the Facilities Front Desk at 503-777-7283. If it is outside of normal business hours, call Community Safety at 503-517-5355.
