Project Goals | Improve Student Access to Digital Materials
We will facilitate access to digital materials, including course reserves, licensed electronic resources, and other digital collections by developing processes and best practices for producing and disseminating optimal electronic texts. Based on the scholarly needs outlined in phase one of the project, we will create a scholar's toolkit of recommended, cloud-based, and interoperable applications to enable students to handle and share resources, take and save notes, and perform other tasks related to Reed academic work. Project activities will include:
- Analysis of student mobile device uses and needs for document delivery. Initial data was gathered during the Spring 2013 Mobile Device Survey.
- Evaluation of citation management solutions for student use.
- Optimization of digitization processes and workflow for producing electronic reserves.
- Expansion of electronic reserves system to deliver documents optimized for use on mobile devices.
