Advancement & College Relations

The office of advancement and college relations has primary responsibility to advance understanding and support of Reed College among key internal and external audiences, including alumni, parents, current and prospective students, community leaders, media, elected officials and governmental entities, corporations and foundations, and other friends of the college.

Hieu T. Nguyen, Vice President

Hieu T. Nguyen

Hieu T. Nguyen is a seasoned development and advancement professional whose 22-year career in higher education has included service to some of the very best institutions in the nation. Nguyen has served in key leadership positions at Bates College, Bowdoin College, Middlebury College, the University of California - Riverside, and most recently served as the Vice President for Advancement at Harvey Mudd College.

Prior to joining academia in 2002, Nguyen worked in industry for startup ventures with Qualcomm, Inc. in San Diego, Calif., and Burlee.com in Burlington, Vt.

Hieu and his wife of 25 years, Shannon, have two college-age children, Sydney and Holden, and their beloved 13-year-old pitbull-labrador mix, Star.
