2023 Chinese Literature Excellence
Reed students publish Reed's first OER book
During the summer of 2023, Dr. Jinhui Wu, a visiting assistant professor of Chinese and Humanities, collaborated with junior Madeline Yap and two librarians at Reed on editing and publishing an Open Educational Resources (OER) book. The book, Spirited Ink, consists of thirty-eight creative and analytical essays written by students from the spring 2023 CHIN/LIT 330 course titled "Chinese Ghost Stories and Supernatural Tales".
This marks the first OER publication at Reed College, made possible through the Office of Institutional Diversity’s Social Justice Research and Education fund. The book showcases the outstanding and quality work written by Reed students involved in Chinese literature courses, offering valuable exposure to Chinese culture through ghost stories and folk tales. The Chinese department is proud to exhibit the excellent dedication and work of students involved in Chinese courses and encourages the Reed community and beyond to read this publication as well.
