Reed's Content Management System

Edit

Reed’s web template is composed of multiple regions, such as the site banner and navigation. Most often you'll be editing the content here in the middle of the page. This region is called "main content." To start editing the main content region, select a page from the Asset Tree and click Edit.

The editing window

The editing window (shown below) has three important parts:

  1. The page title is the label displayed on your web browser's tab for this page. It should usually be the same as the page heading in #3 below.
  2. You can have one or more Components. For now, we're going to stick with one "standard" type of Component (see the Components page for info on other types).
  3. The content editor is where you'll create new or modify existing content.

Create content

Cascade's content editor should look familiar to anybody who has used Word or Google Docs. The menus and buttons give you options for formatting text, adding links, inserting images and tables, and using custom formats. Always keep in mind our accessibility best practices when creating content.

Optional: Show edit preview

Preview your changes as you type by clicking the Show Edit Preview button at the top of the screen. Note: the preview window may be fairly narrow, so the web page may display in "mobile" mode. Click Preview Draft instead to see your changes in a larger window (see next section).

Save your changes

When you are done editing page content, it's time to preview draft and submit.
