Restoration

Canyon restoration efforts have improved the ecosystem for the species that live here, and assured the quality of this important water source for the Johnson Creek system.

In recent years, Reed College has led several projects designed to bring the watershed closer to its natural beginnings. From reforestation projects that offset invasive non-native plant species to the creation of new spawning and rearing grounds for salmon, the college has worked with the City of Portland and other regional partners to reconnect one of Portland's remaining historical waterways to the Willamette River and the Pacific Ocean.
