Natural History of the Canyon

A place for contemplation, recreation, research, and nature gazing, the 28-acre watershed on the Reed College campus is teeming with life.

Picture yourself under a rich canopy of Douglas fir, bigleaf maple, and a host of other trees. Maybe you spot a northwestern salamander slither under a sword fern, or see a cluster of Pholiota mushrooms on a fallen alder branch, or witness a great blue heron stealthily hunting for carp. You never know what a stroll through the canyon has in store for you.
