Description
The Ellison Scholars program is offered by the Ellison Institute of Technology (EIT), whose mission is to "develop and deploy technology in pursuit of solving some of humanity’s most challenging and enduring problems. Guided by world leaders, scientists and entrepreneurs, EIT seeks to accelerate innovation in health and medical science, food security and sustainable agriculture, climate change and clean energy, and government innovation and era of artificial intelligence."
Part of EIT’s mission is to identify students from around the world and train them to be leaders with the skills to invent, improve and manage the next generation of technology. The Ellison Scholars program for graduates will fully fund selected students’ in DPhil (PhD) study at the University of Oxford, where they will collaborate with other Scholars and the EIT Faculty of Fellows on projects important to humanity. Each Scholar's doctoral research at Oxford will center on an EIT project. The full list of EIT projects can be found on the Ellison Scholars website.
The scholarship funds all course fees at the University of Oxford, with a stipend to cover things such as travel, programming, accommodation and living expenses. This multi-year program includes the equivalent of paid internships, with continued work on a project within EIT’s humane endeavours. Scholars are expected to fully commit to both their study at Oxford, and their ongoing project work with EIT.
The inaugural class of Ellison Scholars will begin in fall 2025.
