Art 282 – Sculpture in the Expanded Field
2013 Projects
The Expanded Field: Immaterial Objects
Until the twentieth century, representation of the human form was central to sculpture. In modern and contemporary art, the scale of sculpture is directly related to the human form and a phenomenological experience for the body. This course will parallel the history of sculpture as a temporal and a spatially dynamic form. We will explore the mechanical form and functions of the body, the transformation of materials and the physical presence of temporal architectonic form. Visit the course website.
