IT Network Name Changes
Dear Reed Community,
IT is working to update some of the network infrastructure to provide better wireless and wired services, increase network security, and decrease the time it takes to resolve network issues. These upgrades are happening this summer in the ETC and Library, and after construction is completed on the new Sports Center. The timeline for future rollouts has yet to be determined but will be based on feedback from community members and allocated budget.
These changes will affect the names of the wireless networks you are used to accessing:
Reed1x → Reed
ReedXenia → Reed Guest
You will need to sign into the new wireless network when entering one of the affected buildings. This sign-in will be done in the same way you do it today on Reed1x or the wired network. Just like Reed1x, if you have your computer remember your credentials it becomes a seamless transition. However, if you have an active connection while transitioning between the upgraded buildings, there may be some applications or websites that need to be reloaded.
