As required by the United States Department of Education, this page is meant to provide public information about Reed's participation in the Higher Education Emergency Relief Funding (HEERF) programs.
Reed College has received three grants from the U.S. Department of Education for pandemic expenses.
On April 16, 2020 Reed College signed and returned to the U.S. Department of Education the Certification and Agreement and the assurance that the institution has used, or intends to use, no less than 50 percent of the funds received under Section 18804(a)(1) of the CARES Act to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.
In April 2020, the college received $842,657 as part of the HEERF program within the Coronavirus Aid Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act, 2020. Of this, $421,329 was disbursed directly to 746 students in the form of emergency aid grants. The remaining $421,328 was used to relieve pandemic related expenses incurred by the college.
In January 2021, the college received $1,237,125 as part of the HEERF II program within the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations (CRRSA) Act, 2021. Of this, $421,329 was disbursed directly to students in the form of emergency aid grants. The remaining $815,795 was used to relieve pandemic related expenses incurred by the college.
In May 2021, the college received $2,209,310 as part of the HEERF III program within the American Rescue Plan (ARP) Act, 2021. The college is currently in the process of developing a distribution plan for the emergency aid grants to students portion of the funding.
