Research Assistant

We are seeking Research Assistant to join our Institutional Research team.

Position Summary

The Institutional Research Assistant works under the supervision of the Director of Institutional Research to conduct research, analytical studies, data collection, and surveys that serve the needs of the college.  This position will mainly provide support to the college’s strategic planning projects.

Essential Functions

  • Tasks that may be assigned include:  internet searches, tabulating data, conducting statistical analyses, administering surveys, writing queries, and designing graphs and tables for reports.
  • In a timely manner and under the guidance of the Director, prepare verbal and written summaries of information to be provided to those that have made requests of the office.

Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitatively oriented major required.  Those with degrees in subjects such as Economics, Statistics, Sociology, or Psychology may find themselves particularly suited for this type of research. 
  • Familiarity with the following software tools will be helpful: SQL, Stata, SPSS, Banner or Cascade CMS, IPEDS data center.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Experience with research and its application to practical questions.  This may include but is not limited to:  data analysis, statistics, database queries, survey research, or analytical studies. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong Excel skills, preferred
