Assistant Director, Annual Fund (Reed Leadership Circle)

Title:         Assistant Director, Annual Fund (Reed Leadership Circle)
Reports to:     Associate Director, Annual Fund

Lead a comprehensive peer-to-peer volunteer fundraising effort focused primarily at soliciting Annual Fund gifts in the $500 to $5,000 range.

Essential Responsibilities
Guide the work of the Griffin Initiative Working Group of Alumni Fundraising for Reed (AFR) which includes:

a. Setting agendas for regular working group meetings;
b. Engaging volunteers to analyze feasibility of initiatives and set ambitious leadership giving goals;
c. Working with volunteers to design and implement a fall and a spring peer-to-peer leadership solicitation and thanking campaigns;
d. Structuring challenge matches that will inspire giving at the $500, the $1,000, and $1,911 level and above;
e. Recruiting, managing, training, and supporting more than 100 AFR volunteer solicitors;
f. Build relationships with AFR volunteers through regular communication throughout the year as well as personal visits when appropriate.
g. Recognize and appropriately thank AFR volunteers involved in various efforts.
h. Tracking, analyzing, and reporting on initiative progress.

Conceive of and draft copy for Annual Fund leadership appeals and other promotional material—often in coordination with AFR volunteers.

Coordinate a comprehensive stewardship plan for leadership donors.

Consider new initiatives for increasing alumni giving at the leadership level including but not limited to leadership giving house parties, Reunions based peer-to-peer volunteer fundraising effort, and a pilot group to address giving in the 1990’s RLC and participation.?  

Design and implement a donor society that recognizes consistent giving.

Assist in departmental planning, budgeting and project brainstorming.

Participate in Annual Fund call nights in December and June to solicit gifts from donors at all levels who gave last year but have not renewed their support this year.

Other duties as assigned.


Bachelor's degree and two years fundraising experience; or any combination of experience and education which provides the applicant with the desired skills, knowledge and ability required to perform the job.

Occasional evening and weekend work is required.
