Live Taping: Philosophy Talk, "Your Lying Eyes: Perception, Memory, and Justice"
Monday, 7 p.m., Eliot Hall chapel
Eye-witness testimony is the bedrock of the criminal-justice system. But how reliable is it? Can our perceptions—and our memories—be colored by subsequent events? Join Prof. Daniel Reisberg of the Reed psychology department and John Perry and Ken Taylor of Philosophy Talk for a live taping on this topic. Prof. Reisberg is a nationally-recognized expert on eye-witness testimony and author of The Science of Perception and Memory: A Pragmatic Guide for the Justice System and scores of other scholarly books and articles. The Reed Jazz Ensemble will provide a special performance. The session will be broadcast in November on NPR. Sponsored by the dean of the faculty and public affairs.
