Reed Theatre: "Two by Ionesco"

Thursday & Friday and Thursday–Saturday, 7:30 p.m., Diver Studio Theatre, Performing Arts Building

Reed Theatre presents two plays by Romanian-born Eugène Ionesco. Writing in French about a “typical” English couple, Ionesco brashly depicts what happens when the world goes awry but retains its veneer of normalcy in The Bald Soprano (1950). The Lesson, written in 1951, is a dark academic comedy. Both plays invite questions about time, language, and how we cope in worlds that no longer make any sense at all. The Bald Soprano is directed by Prof. Kate Bredeson and The Lesson is directed by thesis candidate Gracie Rittenberg. Both plays feature acting by thesis candidate Colin Trevor. Tickets: $3–7; online or at the PAB box office.
