Kathleen C. Schwartzman is professor of sociology at the University of Arizona, with research interests in political sociology, economic development, and Latin America. She is author of The Chicken Trail: Following Workers, Migrants, and Corporations across the Americas, The Social Origins of Democratic Collapse: The First Portuguese Republic in the Global Economy, and numerous articles about the economic, political, and social consequences of global integration.
