OPEN REHEARSAL: 10 a.m., featuring the full artistic faculty of Tango for Musicians at Reed College and Chamber Music Northwest’s renowned Festival Artists Ida Kavafian on violin and David Shifrin on clarinet.

The world-renowned artistic faculty of Tango for Musicians at Reed College comes straight from Buenos Aires and joins Chamber Music Northwest festival artists for a celebration of the urgently expressive music that is contemporary tango. The concert features both classic works by Piazzolla and original tango compositions by these remarkable artists. Tango for Musicians at Reed College is North America’s leading tango workshop for musicians, and includes some of the most outstanding tango musicians and educators active today, a rigorous curriculum developed in conjunction with the authors of the book series Metodo de Tango, as well as world-class facilities for music education and performance.
