Stephen E. Ostrow Distinguished Visitors Program in the Visual Arts: Fred Wilson, "The Silent Message of the Museum"
7:30 p.m., Kaul Auditorium
Fred Wilson will present his museum installations of the past 25 years, which infiltrate museum structures and art historical canons through the medium of display. He will also show his recent sculpture in bronze and glass, which investigate the symbolism and meaning of the color black. In these works, inspired by historic design, art, and literature, Wilson creates both baroque and simple forms that speak to contemporary times. This lecture is in a larger venue than past events in the series, and we expect to be able to accommodate all who wish to attend. Please contact Sarah Gilbert, Reed visiting assistant professor of art, for additional information.
