2013 Consortium for Faculty Diversity Conference

Travel & Lodging for CFD Fellows

The CFD Conference will pay for your airfare within the Continental U.S. (or gas/mileage if you are in the region and decide to drive to Reed), 2 nights hotel, and all meals while you are in Portland for the conference. It is our goal that, with the exception of the airport-to-hotel shuttle once you arrive in Portland, you should not have any out-of-pocket expenses to attend this conference (we will reimburse you for the shuttle expense. Find the reimbursement form here). In order for that to happen seamlessly, we have arranged that you use Reed College’s travel service, which will bill us directly for your travel. Likewise, we have arranged to have the hotel bill us directly for your room. It is important that you use these services. We are not set up to reimburse you for travel or hotel if you make alternative plans. Given that, please follow the directions below very carefully. Thank you.

Hotel Booking Instructions

Please register for your room using the REE code. Make special note of your confirmation #. This is what we will use to ensure the hotel doesn’t charge you. (We’ll ask for this on the registration page.) They will, however, ask for your credit card initially in order to hold the room. Don’t worry: your card won’t be charged. Likewise, when you check-in, you’ll be asked for a credit card for incidentals. All incidentals you incur while at the Courtyard are your responsibility.

If you are driving in from points within the Pacific Northwest, we will reimburse you for your gas mileage in the amount of $.50 per mile. Find the reimbursement form here. Please submit it no later than September 30th.

CFD Fellows Auxiliary Travel (to and from hotel, parking, tolls, etc.)

We will reimburse you if you take Portland’s public transportation system, Trimet ($5) or if you take the Blue Star Bus (or a similarly priced airport shuttle, all of which are just outside of PDX Arrivals).

Please keep and submit your receipts along with the reimbursement form by no later than September 30th. If you book the airport shuttle online, feel free to submit your receipt early and the check will be waiting for you when you arrive at the conference.

Alternative ways of getting to the hotel from the airport:

  • Via Campus Rep
  • Via Trimet
  • Via Taxicab: taxis from the airport will run approximately $35 one-way. With the exception of those who arrive after 12:30am, the CFD conference cannot reimburse Fellows for taxi rides.
