Museo dell'Ara Pacis - Interior
Entry Areas
There are two doorways for visitors entering the main level of the museum. One doorway leads into the bookstore, the other into the reception-ticket area. Both then open into a space with instructive introductory text, diagrams, model, and casts. These intoductory spaces are dimly lit by relatively small skylights, preparing visitors for the opening into the sun-lit Grand Hall. This transition is also marked by a tall freestanding slab, surfaced in smooth, fine-beige travertine. reflecting the magnificent wall at the back of the Grand Hall.
