The Light Still Burns: A House Concert with Lauren Sheehan '80
224 Custer Trail
Cary, North Carolina
Lauren Sheehan ‘80, an Americana and blues singer, will be touring the east coast this fall in support of her latest album and has kindly agreed to give a performance based on this project for Reed alumni and friends.
The concert will be held on Wednesday, November 12, at the home of Keith Allen ‘83. There will be a reception at 7 p.m. followed by the concert at around 8 p.m.
Sheehan will also discuss the making of The Light Still Burns, released as a companion CD to the book The Kalamazoo Gals, which details the forgotten stories of the women who staffed Gibson’s guitar factory during World War II and how they made one of the greatest guitars of the era. You can read more about the story behind the music here: http://www.opb.org/news/article/npr-rosie-the-riveter-had-a-sister-laura-the-luthier/

Also, since this evening centers around WWII-era Gibson guitars, if you have a guitar from this vintage, especially (but not limited to) Gibsons and would like Lauren to integrate it into the evening, please bring it along!
