Academic Advising

Each MALS student is assigned a faculty academic adviser who offers support for the graduate program process and is available for consultation about the curriculum. Generally advisers are selected from faculty members who currently serve or recently have served on the Committee on Graduate Studies, or from whom the student has taken a course. Students are required to consult with their academic advisers before registering for courses each term.

All faculty members hold regular office hours in order to assist student progress and performance. Students may also discuss these issues by phoning or emailing an adviser, and by scheduling individual appointments. The director of the program, members of the Committee on Graduate Studies, and the staff in student life also are available to discuss educational and personal concerns.
