July 15, 2013 Update
As you know, July 1st was a big day as it kicked off the new Fiscal Year!
This year, July 1st happened to fall in the middle of the pay period June 22nd to July 6th, which spans the end of 2012/13 and the beginning of the 2013/14 fiscal years. As this transition affects how you view your first paycheck of this new fiscal year, we wanted to highlight a couple of these areas:
Your July 15th paycheck reflects hours worked or time taken off from June 22nd to June 30th at your 2012/13 rate, and hours worked or time taken off from July 1st to July 6th at your 2013/14 rate. What shows in GPS on your Pay Stub under Amount is the actual amount calculated by blending these two rates. Exempt staff will see a blended salary Amount. Non-exempt staff will see the 2013/14 hourly Rate and blended Amount, which will not equal the Hours multiplied by the Rate because of the blending of the rates. What does show on the Pay Stub is the correct total amount.
You should expect to see your pay increase applied to a full pay period on the July 31st paycheck. This should then match the salary letter that you received as well as the rate of pay reflected in GPS.
Vacation/Sick Balances in GPS
On July 1st, your available vacation and sick hours rolled over to the new 2014 fiscal year. The “Available Beginning Balance” reflects your balances as of July 6th, and you will see that the “earned” and “taken” columns now show 0.00. If you took vacation after the 6th, this amount will be reflected on your July 31st paycheck.
Review your paycheck with your salary increase letter
While we have made every attempt to accurately reflect your pay increase in today’s paycheck, it is possible that an error may have occurred. In order to ensure that we have your paycheck correctly calculated, it would be helpful if you would review your pay rate against the letter you received. This information is listed in GPS under Jobs Summary. Click on your Title to see the history of your salary or hourly rates.
